Mental Health America of the Heartland – Mental health information, and referrals and support groups in Kansas City: 913-281-2221 or info@mhah.org. From 4 pm to 10 pm, call the Compassionate Ear Warmline, at 1-866-WARM-EAR. This is a consumer operated alternative to a crisis line, where you can talk to someone in recovery from mental illness.  Here’s a list of many warmlines in the U.S., including the other four warmlines in Missouri. Corinna West is a former warmline coordinator and an advocate for talking to other people who have been through difficulties.

Corinna West, Poetry for Personal Power Program Coordinator.

Also found at www.corinnawest.com.  Corinna West is in charge of most program decisions and event scheduling. She uses art, peer support, and non-medicaton wellness techniques to show people that mental suffering can be temporary and transformative. She is working to create a mental health system in Kansas City so cheap that people in recovery can afford to pay for it themselves.  She has a passion for sharing first hand recovery information using her experiences as a person in recovery from 12 psychiatric diagnoses including schizophrenia and PTSD. Corinna West was a member of the 1996 Olympic Judo Team and is now a transportational bicyclist, with more miles on her bicycle than her car.
