Sara Glass

Biography:

Miss Conception (Sara Glass) has served as a conscious performance artist in Lawrence and Kansas City, debuting her hiphop side recently. Open up & heard from the grape vines of KS spoken word and spun beats, she’s got a message to breed. Through sung choruses and leads, emcee Miss C takes over the microphone with a motivational, educational and confrontational style. Breaking down stereotypes of the guerotype with sufficient wordplay and rhyme, she takes on one hard to define subject a time… sex, solidarity and startin’ the revolution are topically explored. It’s a group effort towards enlightenment… as we climb, one rhyme at a time, getting inside your mind until the divine sublimes. Realigned, and influized by the honorable Ani Difranco and Jurassic 5, put the two together and you get one hell of a misconception.

Sara’s motivations:

My poetry tends to come from an activists perspective, always wanting to better myself and the world we live in.  I am very excited about the possibility of performing for young people, as I feel language and creativity are true tools to unlock the secrets of the universe.  Living right starts with YOU making a difference, and I am proud to be making a difference here in my hometown of Kansas City.

I have used poetry as a tool to organize my thoughts and possibly inspire others since I can remember writing poems in 7th grade.   Dance has also played a major role in my life as a tool for expression as well as personal fitness and fun!  Most recently, I have taking up hoop dancing, using a hula hoop to interpret the music.  As a hiphop artists, I have also been trying to transition from ‘poetry’ to ‘hiphop’, as music is one of the highest forms of spirituality I have found in my life.  What are being defined here as ‘wellness tools’ have mostly always been a part of my regular life, funneling music, dance and spirituality into one facet.  Born an entertainer, I want nothing more than to share the beauty of movement and music with those who wish to commune!
